Support for the hardest job you'll ever have...
I believe that parenting is the hardest job we will ever have, and the one that comes with the least training and support. Especially in today's world, parenting adolescents can feel like a no-win situation. My goal is to help parents and teens see "eye-to-eye" and understand each other's perspectives and goals in a way that results in collaboration rather than the typical resistance that occurs in adolescence.
I have found success in using dialectics (two seemingly opposite ideas can both be true) to help parents and children see each other's perspectives and find a middle ground that respects both the role of a parent and the identity of the child. I rely heavily on the skills taught in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for both parent and child.
If you are struggling with how to parent a teen in a complicated world and need support, guidance, or skills, please reach out to schedule a free 15 minute consultation to determine if I can be of help to you.
